Travel Information

Waikoloa is located on the western shore on the Island of Hawaii, the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Island chain. Nickname the “Big Island,” Hawaii is double the size of all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined.  From tropical rain forests to awesome volcanoes to snow cap mountains and of course to the magnificent beaches, the “Big Island” has it all.

Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA)

Located in West Hawaii at Keahole, Kona international airport is the primary airport on the Island of Hawaii. It serves both transpacific and interisland flights. From the airport to the Hilton Waikoloa Village is about a 20-minute car ride.  For more information about the airport and about travel restrictions, please visit the official website of Kona airport.

To and from the Airport

IEEE has negotiated special shuttle rates for GLOBECOM attendees. To arrange for a shuttle service, please click here. Taxi services are also readily available at the airport. The average fair to the conference venue is US$50. Car sharing services such as Uber and Lyft are available as well.
